In 1986, the first American Silver Eagle was made, taking a step up from the Eisenhower dollar of the 70's. Although the obverse design never changes, the desire to own these prized beauties has only grown throughout the US and the world. Low mintages is not the first thought that comes to mind when thinking of the American Silver Eagle but even though there are a lot made every year, certain years are becoming harder and harder to find, thus increasing their numismatic value. It's a phenomenon that has changed dealing in the silver bullion industry and that keeps collectors and investors alike coming back for more.
The US Mint decided to try something new this year and will be releasing 2 American Silver Eagles. The first eagle will be released in January, keeping the same iconic design that has been maintained since 1986. Later, in the year, the US Mint will release a Type 2 version that will display a different reverse design than in the past.
